Events in Fiesta 2008 !!

Robotics Society has brought to you (students) five events in the FIESTA-2008, the annual function of the Integral University. The FIESTA-2008 is to be held on 25th and 26th of Feb. 2008.

The events are :
1) Robo-Olympics - up to 4 students/per team - manually controlled hurdle race.
2) Robo-Sumo ......- up to 4 students/per team - manually controlled fight challenge.
3) Circuit Makers .- up to 2 students/per team - build the given circuit, components given.
4) Robo-Seminaar - up to 1 students/per team - seminar on “Biotechnology in Robotics”.
5) Robo- Quiz ........- up to 2 students/per team - Quiz on Robotics (for I. U. students only).
~~~~~~~How to participate!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Robo-Olympics:
Head: Mukesh Katiyar
In this event, the robot has to be manually controlled and made to overcome the hurdles and reach to the "finish" line in the least time. The points would be given on the originality of design and the task performed.
Note. The robot should be no more than "25 cm X 25 cm" in total area (including the wheels). The students should try to arrange for their own power supply.

The Arena would consist of rumble-strip (speed breaker), zig zag path, a slope of 30 degree elevation and ball pick 'n throw etc.

Robo-Sumo:
Head: Munnu Lal Yadav
This competition requires the participants to bring a movable device (mobile robot). In this, there will be a tussle of wits, where the robot has to fight out the other robot. The robots will be placed in the mid. of a 2 mt. (radius) circle. A robot will lose (a)if it comes out of the circle before the other robot. (b) if the robot cannot be controlled (moved without touching).
Note. The robot should be no more than "25 cm X 25 cm" in total area (including the wheels). The students should try to arrange for their own power supply.

Circuit Makers:
Head: Shivam Seth
Here the students will be provided some components and they have to build a given (asked) circuit, using the components. The students will be marked on simplicity of design & implementation and on the time taken.
The circuits will be of basic robotics use like Obstruction detector, proximity detector, motor drive, circuit for sensors, etc.

Robo-Seminaar:

Here a seminar has to be delivered, explaining the use of "Bio-Technology in Robotics". The team will be provided computer projector and is supposed to bring a presentation on a pen-drive or CD. They should be compatible with Win. XP.

Robo- Quiz:

This quiz will be based on basic knowledge of Robotics and may span the various general developments in the fields of robots. This event will have three rounds ...
1st round will be Objective type. (select one option out of 4 options)
2nd round will be of one word type.(write a suitable word out of a list)
3rd round will be of buzzer type. (live in front of the judges)
This event is organized only for Integral University students, due to the three rounds, which can not be accommodated in the short time of the FIESTA.

The results of the first round of the quiz can be downloaded form here !! The selected students should attend the second round on 23rd of Feb. 2008.

Robo-Workshop 2007-08

We wish to provide a platform and guidance to our fellow students of the University, in the field of creation of a robot. All the students of the University are invited to the workshop, with special emphasis to the 1st and the 2nd yr. B.Tech. Students.

The workshop, which has started from Tuesday, the 18th of September 2007, looks forward to its first aim of designing a moving tray. For this, the students have been asked to come up with a group of 4, and then each group has to use a set of :

4 Wheels 11111111111111111111111111111111111.
1 or 2 pair of Motors (depending on the torque) 11.
Base (plastic tray or a wooden sheet) 11111111111 .
A few Push buttons (at least 4 in number) 1111111.
Strip Wire (broad connector, a set of 4 or 6; 4 mt.)1

-The wheels may be self made /from toys /wooden /from plastic accessories / or purchased.
-The motors may be of the varieties of : Normal DC toy motors/ Stepper / or Servo types. We would prefer DC motors working in the range of 9-12 volts and having an RPM of around 150. They should be having heavy duty (high torque).
-The wire-strip is a neat connection of a set of 6 wires of different colors.

These components are available in Lucknow in the Naka area (Amber market) also there are some project shops which charge a lot of money for making the components easily available. The components are basically available in Delhi and Pune.

ROBO-OLYMPICS 2006-07

The students are supposed to design a mobile robot in a team consisting of up to four members. The robot has to clear the arena which is like the one specified in this website .The points will be based on timing, control and points per hurdle of the arena.

The arena will contain ... a slope with an elevation of upto 45 degrees, an oil ditch upto 4.5 cms deep, sand- tray, cloth rag, obstructions etc.

The robot here is supposed to be not more than 20 cm * 20 cm ... height no bar.

Robotic Model Display 2006-07

The students are required to present any working robot. The points will be awarded on automation, control, cost and level of originality in design.

Up to four members in a team are allowed. All th eregistered teams are cordially invited for participation.

This will be held on 28th February in the annual fest, Fiesta-2007, In Integral University.

C/ C++ Simulation

This is a computer simulation of the “path finder robots” along with a demonstration of the other popular robotics based games.

The first round will consist of keyboard manipulation of the robot, based on the timing and controls and the logic used.
The second round will consist of the user having to design a function to manipulate the robot and again the marking will be on the timing, controls and the generalization of logic.

The "robot" will be a C++ program graphical interface, which will just give an insight to the complexity faced in the competetions of the "MicroMouse Bot".

All the members, registered with the Robotics Society will be allowed to participate. The unregistered entries (if any) will be removed from the final round.

Robotics Quiz 2006-07

A robotics Quiz is to be held in the Integral University, Lucknow on Wednesday, the 7th of February 2007.

This is open to all for participation.

A meeting regarding this will be held on the 29th of January, ... all the members or interested members of the robotics society are co-ordially invited to give their valuable inputs regarding this planned mega event.

Team may consist of 1 or 2 participants
Registration charges Rs. 10 per team (just to ensure sincere participation).

The first round (objective type) was held successfully with a participation of 50 teams.

The second round (one word answers) with 31 teams will be held on 19th Feb 2007 - Monday.

The third and final round (verbal) was held with 10 teams on 28th Feb, 12:30 pm in Fiesta 2007.

The Judges were our Dean (Engineering) Dr. M. M. Hasan, our Head of the Department (Electronics) Dr. Qamrul Zama and Mr. Zia Abbas (Computers).

The students performed well through the Verbal, Visual and buzzer rounds and the teams:

Saud Ali & Shahid Ali of CS 2^nd year did exceptionally well securing the first position.
Nooreen Fatima & Mani Rajput of EC 3^rd year also did quite well and secured the second position.
Mohsin Khan & Amit Srivastav of EE 3^rd year also did quite well and secured the third position.

Among the others Ankur Vishwakarma(2^ndyr Civil), Imran Khan(2^ndyr Civil), Chakradhar Gupta(3^rdyr EE), Mrigank Shekhar Tripathi(3^rdyr EE), Shumail Ahmed(3^rdyr CS), Syed Shahab(3^rdyr CS), Shuchi Tripathi(2^ndyr CS), Sobia Haq(2^ndyr CS), Ankur Jaiswal(3^rdyr EE), Ravi Beriwala(3^rdyr EE), Rahul Rai(1^styr EE), Pawan Prashant Srivastava(1^styr EE) had shown a commendable performance.

Thanks to all the participants for their zeal and enthuciasm.
